Saif Ali Khan was reportedly attacked six times during burglary attempt in his Bandra House in Mumbai, Maharashtra in the late night at around 2:30 am on January 16.
According to police reports, an unidentified miscreants broke into Saif Ali Khan Bandra House at around 2:30 am and confronted a member of the household staff. When Saif Ali Khan tried to calm the situation, the intruder attacked him, causing six injuries. Two of the injuries were serious, with one dangerously close to his spine.
Police said it is unclear whether Saif was injured during a fight with the intruder or was stabbed.
Kareena Kapoor was out earlier in the evening with friends Karisma Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, and Rhea Kapoor, but police confirmed she was home when the attack happened. The attempted burglary occurred around 4 AM. Kareena and their two sons, Taimur and Jeh, were at home during the incident but are safe.
Kareena’s team has reassured fans that the family is fine. In an official statement, they said, “Saif suffered an arm injury and is currently being treated at the hospital. The rest of the family is safe and doing well.”
After the attack the miscreants fled from the scene immediately, Mumbai Police have registered an FIR. Saif Ali Khan immediately rushed to the Lilavati Hospital where he currently undergoing emergency surgery.
The actor’s team issued a statement that read: “There was an attempted burglary at Mr Saif Ali Khan’s residence. He is currently in hospital undergoing a surgery. We request the media and fans to be patient. It is a police matter We will keep you updated on the situation.”
DCP Dixit Gedam says, “Late last night, around 3 AM, information came in that actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked at a station. A police team was dispatched to the scene, and an investigation is currently underway”
Dr. Niraj Uttamani, COO of Lilavati Hospital, confirmed that Saif Ali Khan was attacked by an unidentified person at his home and was brought to the hospital at 3:30 am. He was accompanied by his son, Ibrahim Ali Khan, and a household help.
Describing the injuries, Dr. Uttamani said, “He has six injuries, two of which are deeper, including one near his spine. There is also an injury on his neck, which is being evaluated.”
Another doctor at Lilavati Hospital, speaking anonymously, told HT that a piece of the knife was found in Saif’s body, and the team is still assessing the extent of the damage. However, the actor can move his limbs, indicating that his spine is unharmed.
Dr. Uttamani mentioned that a team of doctors is performing surgery on Saif Ali Khan. ” We are operating on him. He is being operated upon by Neurosurgeon Nitin Dange, cosmetic surgeon Leena Jain, and anaesthetist Nisha Gandhi. We will be tell the extent of the damage only after the surgery is done.” He added that the surgery started at 5:30 am and was still ongoing at 8:30 am.
