The Photo of PM Narendra Modi’s photo has removed from the Covid Vaccine Certificate which issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Previously, the certificates featured his image alongside the caption “Together, India will defeat COVID-19.” Now, while the quote remains, it’s attributed to the Prime Minister without his picture.
After the news of side affect of Covid Vaccine came into light several people started inspecting their Covid Vaccine certificate. But they surprised when they saw that Pm Modi’s Photo was missing from their certificate.
People took their ‘X’ profile and started sharing of the certificate where the photo of PM Modi was removed.
One of the ‘X’ user Sandeep Manudhane took his X profile and share by stating, “Modi ji no more visible on Covid Vaccine certificates Just downloaded to check – yes, his pic is gone”
He also said, “Indeed it is due to Model Code Of Conduct. One of ECI’s small victories for level playing field. ECI ordered removal AFTER complaints by other parties.”
Health Ministry Responds on PM Narendra Modi’s Photo Removal
Officials from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed The Print that the image was taken down in compliance with the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) directives, as the MCC is in effect during the current seven-phase Lok Sabha 2024 elections.
Modi’s photo being removed from Covid-19 vaccine certificates isn’t new. In 2022, The Print noted that, following the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) instructions, his picture was taken off in states heading into elections, such as Goa, Manipur, Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh.
In 2021, the addition of Modi’s picture to vaccination certificates stirred controversy, leading to a dispute taken up in the Kerala High Court.
Justice PV Kunhikrishnan responded to the argument by stating that certificates in other countries don’t feature photos of elected leaders, saying, “They may not be proud of their PMs, we are proud of our PM.”

Prof. Varsha Eknath Gaikwad said, “ Now that #AstraZeneca has admitted their Covid vaccine (manufactured in India as Covishield) causes heart attacks, suddenly Modi’s photo is no longer available on the vaccine certificate. My colleague @ Mahtre_Sheetal downloaded hers again to check and sure enough Modi’s picture is gone. You can check your own certificates too. When there is credit to be taken @narendramodi ji is always right in front, but any questions about his decisions or any blame, he vanishes. What’s even worse is that the BJP took #ElectoralBonds money from Serum Institute that manufactured this vaccine in India.”
