A distressing incident came into fore that a parents pour hot oil to their own three years old girl child body. The parents arrested by the police and child has admitted to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH).
It has been reported that the incident took place on 31 May in Sonai Road area of Silchar. When Local Residents of the area aware about the incident they called the authorities. After the call the Rangirkhari Police outpost immediately rushed to the scene but they found the child alone in the house crying. The child immediately rushed to the SMCH and admitted to Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) where she is now under the treatment.
FIR Filed Against the Parents in Police Station, Silchar
Upon arriving in the scene, the police did not find the parents so they launched an operation and arrested them. The parents identified as Rajdeep Das and Joba Das. They are living in the house as pain guest at Sonai Road, Factory Lane, Sichar. The Landlord has called the Child Helpline and Debashish Dey along with his team came reported about the incident to the Police.
Upon interrogation by the police parents confessed that they had done the cruelty act out of frustration due to child continuous crying. They poured boiling oil from the stove in an attempt to silence her cries. However the explanation provided by the parents fails to satisfy law enforcement officials who view this as nothing short of attempted to murder.
A Member of child helpline said, “ At around 10 am we received a call that at Sonai Road, a child was burnt by its parents. We arrived soon at the scene and found Rangirkhari Police there. We found child with severe burn marks in its body and immediately rushed to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital with the help of a police detail. The Child is now under treatment to Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at the hospital. The Landlord filed an FIR with the matter. The neighboured witnessed the incident and raised alarm. The parents are now under police custody.”
The incident has shocked the community of the area as parents can do this like of things with their child. Authorities ensured that legal action will take against the parents and measures will take to ensure the well being of the child.
