Gaon Panchayat Secretary Arrested for accepting bribe in Bongaigaon, Assam

The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Assam arrested a Gaon Panchayat Secretary of North Salmara Gaon Panchayat in Bongaigaon for accepting demanded bribe on Thursday, September 26.

The Panchayat Secretary identified as Ranjit Kr. Sarkar, Panchayat Secretary of North Salmara Gaon Panchayat in Bongaigaon.

According to reports that the accused demanded Rs. 7000 bribefrom the complainant, who identified as contractor, in connection with processing of bills.

According to information, on September 26 a trap has been laid by a team of Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Assam at the office of North Salmara Gaon Panchayat in Srijangram where the accused caught red-handed for accepting bribe.

The bribe money has been recovered from his possession and seized accordingly.

Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-corruption announced it through X formerly known as twitter. They stated, “Today @DIR_VAC_ASSAM trapped red handed Ranjit Kr. Sarkar, Secretary, North Salmara Gaon Panchayat, Dist- Bongaigaon in the office after he accepted bribe from the complainant in connection with processing of bills.”
