Famous Bollywood Actor Mithun Chakraborty will honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award on 8 October, during National Film Awards ceremony.

Today, Ashwini Vaishaw Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, took his twitter handle and announced about the awards. He stated, โ€œMithun Daโ€™s remarkable cinematic journey inspires generations! Honoured to announce that the Dadasaheb Phalke Selection Jury has decided to award legendary actor, Sh. Mithun Chakraborty Ji for his iconic contribution to Indian Cinema. To be presented at the 70th National Film Awards ceremony on Oct 8, 2024.โ€

Narendra Modi congratulate him by stating, โ€œDelighted that Shri Mithun Chakraborty Ji has been conferred the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, recognizing his unparalleled contributions to Indian cinema. He is a cultural icon, admired across generations for his versatile performances. Congratulations and best wishes to him.โ€

Mithun Chakraborty

Mithun Chakraborty is an Indian actor, producer and a politician, who worked in both Hindi and Bengali film industry. He made his debut in Bollywood movie with Mrinal Sen-directorial, Mrigayaa (1976). He also won National Film Award for Best Award for his performance.

Earlier, on January, 2024 he was awarded Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian award honoured by Government of India.

Mithun Chakraborty become most popular among his performance songs like โ€œI am a Disco Dancerโ€ and โ€œJimmy Jimmyโ€ as Disco Dancer.

He creates record playing the lead roles in more than 100 film in a decade. He gave many famous film as a lead role like, Disco Dancer, Agneepath, Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki, Commando etc.

About Dadasaheb Phalke Award

The Dadasaheb Phalke award is an Indiaโ€™s highest award in the field of cinema. It is presented annually at the National Film Awards ceremony by the Director of Fil Festivals.

The award is instituted in the year of 1969 in the honour of Dadasaheb Palkhe. Mithun Chakrabarty will be 54th winner of the award.
