LPG cylinder price hike has come into effect across India from Saturday, March 7. The price of a 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder, has increased by Rs.60. At the same time, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has gone up by Rs.115.
This LPG cylinder price hike will affect millions of households as well as businesses that rely on LPG for cooking and other daily activities.
New Domestic LPG Cylinder Prices in Major Cities
After this LPG cylinder price hike, cooking gas becomes more costly in various major cities.
In Delhi, the price of a domestic LPG cylinder increased from Rs.853 to Rs.913, and in Mumbai, the price gone up from Rs.852.50 to Rs.912.50.
Likewise, residents in Kolkata will now pay Rs.939 in place of Rs.879. The LPG cylinder price hike is the first major price jump since April 2025, when prices were last updated. In Chennai, the price has increased from Rs.868.50 to Rs.928.50
Commercial LPG cylinders Price Hike
The LPG cylinders price hike also affects commercial cylinders used by restaurants, hotels and catering services.
In Delhi, a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder now costs Rs.1,883, up from Rs.1763.50, while in Mumbai the price increased from Rs.1720.50 to Rs.1835.
In Kolkata, price increased to Rs.1990, while in Chennai the new price stands at Rs.2043.50.
The LPG price hike may raise daily operating costs for many small food businesses.
Government Says Fuel supply Is Stable
In spite of the LPG cylinder price hike, government assured citizens that there is no shortage of fuel in the country.
Hardeep Singh Puri, the Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister, said India has sufficient energy resources and that people need not worry about fuel availability. He also added that the government is ensuring fuel remains available and affordable for consumers across the country.
India Increasing Fuel Imports and Production
According to Officials India has sufficient stock of crude oil and LPG to meet domestic demand. Meanwhile, the government continues to keep a close watch on global developments, especially around the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil shipments.
To maintain a steady supply, India increased LPG Production at domestic refineries. The country also stated LPG imported from the United States under a contract signed by public sector oil companies.
Despite the price hike, authorities say India remains in a comfortable position in terms of fuel availability and supply.
