India Set to Host the ICC World Cup for the First Time

Today we are excited to find out the planned dates and matches for the ICC World Cup 2023. The World Cup will held in India.

This will be the first time that India hosts the prestigious ODI World Cup on its own. The announcement event will take place at the Astor Ballroom, St. Regis in Mumbai according to a media invite circulating on social media.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India had already shared a draft schedule with the participating nations in early June. Outlining the proposed match fixtures and venues for the tournament.

The delay in announcing the schedule is mainly due to various technical factors including a disagreement between India and Pakistan. There is still uncertainty regarding Pakistans participation in the World Cup. ICC officials recently visited Pakistan to persuade the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief to send their players to India for the tournament.

To kick off the World Cup excitement, the ICC started the trophy tour by sending the prestigious trophy 1,20,000 feet above the Earth. The trophy was attached to a high altitude balloon capturing images of the ODI World Cup trophy at the edge of Earth’s atmosphere. This year’s trophy tour will be the biggest yet reaching 18 countries including Kuwait Bahrain Malaysia USA Nigeria Uganda France Italy the United States of America and India. It aims to connect fans from different cities around the world with the coveted silverware.
