As many as 50 people missing and 2 bodies are reported after a cloudburst took place in Samej Khad of Rampur area in Shimla district, Himachal Pradesh. The SDRF team has launched rescue operation.

According to district administration, the disaster management authority team received information of the cloudburst early morning near the hydropower project in Samej Khad in Jhakri, Rampur.

Himachal Pradesh Minster Jagat Singh Negi said to ANI, “So far 36 people have been reported missing in Samej area of ​​Shimla district. Similarly, 8 people are missing in Tikken area of ​​Mandi, 2 bodies have been recovered, 1 is injured. In the Kullu area, the barrage of the power project in Malana has been breached, so people are also stranded, the road connectivity is currently closed. The Chief Minister has called an emergency meeting… many bridges have been damaged…”

Himachal Pradesh cloudburst

Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap said that as soon as the information received about the cloudburst the NDRF, SDRF, police and rescue team left for the site.

He also said that the rescue operation has started immediately. The ITBT, the special him guard team contingent has included with the rescue team. He also said that the basic facilities, including ambulance have been provided to the site.

Teams of NDRF, SDRF, Police, Home Guard and Fire Services are engaged in relief, search and rescue operations. The local administration has been instructed to carry out relief and rescue operations smoothly. I am in touch with the officials and monitoring the relief and rescue operations. The state government is committed to provide all possible assistance.”
