Fifth dead body Recovered from Umrangso flooded Coal Mine, Assam

After 44 days, the rescue team has recovered fifth dead body of flooded Coal Mine under Umrangso Tin Kilo, Kalamati, Dima Hasao district of Assam on Wednesday afternoon.

The NDRF team has made recovery as part rescue operation to locate the remaining trapped mine worker in the flooded coal mine.

Assam’s Minister of Mines & Minerals, Kaushik Rai, confirmed about the recovery of the another dead body recovery. He stated, “One more body has been recovered by the rescue teams today. The identification process is currently underway.”

Efforts are ongoing to rescue remaining trapped individual as search operation is going on.

Assam government has announced Ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the next kin of the four died man, who died in Umrangso coal Mine tragedy. Rs 6 lakh cheque gave to the families who remained trapped and missing.

On January 6, nine workers trapped inside the mine at 3 Kilo coal mine at Umrangso, Dima Hasao, which is 250 km away from Guwahati. 4 Coal mine workers dead boy has recovered from the site. Five still remain trapped. Among the missing coal mine worker today one dead recovered. The identity of the recovered dead is not known yet.
