Durga Puja Dashami is the tenth day and final day of Durga Puja Festival. On this day the idol of Durga Ma is carried for immersion (Visharjan) in river, ponds or the sea. It is believed that on this Ma Durga returns to mount Kailash to reunite with her husband, Lord Shiva. People celebrate as Vijaya Dashami. After Dashami Puja married woman apply sindoor on each other, which known as Sindoor Khela.
The immersion process is filled with both joy and sadness. Devotees, often clad in traditional attire, sing and dance to the beats of the dhak (drums) as they accompany the idols to the water. The chant of “Asche bochor abar hobe” (Next year, she will return again) fills the air, offering hope and assurance that the goddess will return to bless her children once more.

Vijaya Dashami will celebrate on October 12, 2024. Durga Puja Dashami Tithi: October 12, 2024 – 05:43 am and Maha Dashami Tithi End: October 13, 2024 – 04: 14 am
Dashami puja will start from Afternoon of October 12 after that Visharjan.
Ritual of Durga Puja Dashami 2024:
- Aparajita Puja: In Dashami Puja, This ritual honors Goddess Durga’s victory over Mahishasura and seeks her blessings for future victories in life. It is a way of expressing gratitude and seeking protection from the goddess.
- Dashami Bhog and Final Aarti: The last offerings (bhog) present to the goddess on Dashami morning, including sweets, fruits, and other symbolic items. Following the offering, a final aarti (ritual of light) performed, where devotees sing hymns and offer flowers to the goddess.
- Sindoor Khela: One of the visually stunning and joyous of Durga Dashami is Sindoor Khela. After Dashami puja married woman gather at the Pandal and apply Sindoor on the Goddess Durga Forehead and Feet. After this married woman apply sindoor each other.
- Visarjan (Idol Immersion): People took the idol of Ma Durga in grand processions to rivers, ponds, or the sea for Visarjan.
After the Visarjan, families and communities exchange Bijoya Dashami greetings. It is customary to visit friends, relatives, and neighbors, offering sweets and good wishes.
