Durga Puja 2024: Durga Puja is a biggest festival of Hindu, specially for Bengali community. Millions of People celebrates Durga Puja across the country, mostly in West Bengal, Tripura, Odisha, Bihar etc. In the eastern and Northern state of India Durga Puja is celebrated as Navaratri.
Durga Puja is celebrated for five days which starts from Sashti and ends in Dashami with Durga Murti or idol Visharjan. In this five days people enjoy a lot. Many Pandal were constructed in different way, as best pandal got the best award.
Durga Puja is festival that marks the victory of Goddess Durga over the demon king Mahishashur, which symbolized triumph of good over evil. Sarodiya Durga Puja is celebrated during the month of Ashwin (Falls in the month of September-October).

Durga Puja 2024 will celebrate from 9 October – 13 October. But this year, Navami and Vijayadashami Puja falls in one day.

Five Days of Durga Puja and Ritual
Durga Puja Sasthi: Sashti marks the beginning of Durga Puja. It is believed that on Sashti, Ma Durga descends on earth with her child Ganesh, Karthik, Lakshmi and Saraswati. This puja is done under the bael tree in the evening time.
Saptami Durga puja: On Saptami Durga Puja, ritual starts from Pran Pratistha, where priest chant mantras into the Ma Durga idol and sprinkling holy water. On this day, priest bathed banana tree which is known as Kola Bou in a river before dawn and draped sari like a newly bribe. This is followed by Nabapatrika Puja, in which nine plants, representing nine forms of Durga are bathed and worshipped.
Ashtami Durga Puja: The day is considered as the most important day of Durga Puja, where Kumari Puja is taking place. In the evening of the day Sandhi Puja is perform in her Chamundi form. On this day she slayed two Ashura name Chanda and Munda.
Navami Durga Puja: Navami Durga is the final Day of Durga Puja, where it is marked with Maha Aarti. On this day, Maa Durga Killed the Buffalo Ashur or Demon Mahishashur and is worshipped as Mahishashurmardini.
