The driver, who escaped after a hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of a senior police officer in Guwahati, has been arrested by police on Friday night.
According to report, accused driver identified as Bisesh Singhal, who was arrested from the Christian Basti area late at night by the Basistha Police.
In the early hours on Thursday, the senior police Birinchi Kumar Das, Office-in-charge of Ghograpar Police Station in Nalbari died after a speeding swift car hit his scooter at Lalmati area of Guwahati. The accident occurred at around 1:30 am.
The speeding swift car lost control first crashed into road divider and then struck to police officer scooter. The force of the car was so high that the scooter completely smashed and the police officer died in the spot.
After the accident, the car driver fled from the scene. During the investigation, police discovered that the car was registered under TP Traders. After an intense manhunt, the accused Singhal was finally arrested.
