Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh passed away on December 26, 2024 at the age of 92 years. He was died at All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in New Delhi.

According to information he was admitted in AIIMS to the emergency department at 8 pm after losing his consciousness at home. Despite efforts to resuscitate him by the doctors, he was declared dead at around 9:51 pm.

Following the death of Manmohan Singh, political leaders tribute him through social media. PM Narendra Modi stated, โ€œIndia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished leaders, Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji. Rising from humble origins, he rose to become a respected economist. He served in various government positions as well, including as Finance Minister, leaving a strong imprint on our economic policy over the years. His interventions in Parliament were also insightful. As our Prime Minister, he made extensive efforts to improve peopleโ€™s lives.โ€

He also added, โ€œDr. Manmohan Singh Ji and I interacted regularly when he was PM and I was the CM of Gujarat. We would have extensive deliberations on various subjects relating to governance. His wisdom and humility were always visible. In this hour of grief, my thoughts are with the family of Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji, his friends and countless admirers. Om Shanti.โ€

Rahul Gandhi Stated, โ€œManmohan Singh Ji led India with immense wisdom and integrity. His humility and deep understanding of economics inspired the nation.My heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Kaur and the family.I have lost a mentor and guide. Millions of us who admired him will remember him with the utmost pride.โ€

India declares 7 Day mourning on respect of Dr Manmohan Singh death

The Union government has announced a seven-day mourning to honor former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. During this period, the national flag will be flown at half-mast across India, and there will be no official entertainment. Indian embassies and high commissions abroad are also asked to follow the half-mast rule. The Cabinet will meet at 11 am on Friday to pay tribute to Singh, who is remembered as the “architect of India’s economic reforms.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Union Ministers Amit Shah and JP Nadda, visited Manmohan Singh’s residence to pay their respects to the former Prime Minister.
