Not only Delhi many city witnessed the flood of North India

This year allover Northern India has witnessed an exceptional monsoon season. With the record-breaking rainfall since the onset of June, according to officials. The devastating situation that happened by the heavy rains is not confined to Delhi alone. As neighboring states like Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana are also suffering in this flood. It results loss of at least 88 lives in Himachal Pradesh.

Chief Minister Kejriwal appealed to the federal government to regulate the release of water from the Hathnikund Barrage in Haryana. Which he believes is contributing to the swelling of the Yamuna river of Delhi Floods. Authorities expect the water flow from the barrage to gradually subside by 14:00 IST (08:30 GMT) on Thursday, offering some relief to the inundated areas.

The Delhi government has established relief camps under flyovers, providing shelter for more than 16,500 displaced individuals. The state’s governor is scheduled to meet with the Delhi Disaster Management Authority to discuss the unfolding flood situation.

Seasonal monsoon rains are a vital source of water for India. But they also bring about annual casualties and extensive property damage. In recent years, India has experienced increasingly extreme weather patterns, with this relentless rainfall following a severe heatwave that impacted much of North India. Climate experts argue that global warming and the resulting climate change amplify the likelihood of intense rainfall events and subsequent flooding.

As the people of Delhi grapple with the unprecedented Delhi Floods, swift action, coordination and long-term measures to address climate change’s impact on weather patterns are crucial to mitigate the devastation caused by such natural disasters.
