CBI Registered Case Against 4 Gramin Assam Vikas Bank Employee over Rs. 8.28 Cr Fraud

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against four former Assam Gramin Bank Employee on the allegation of fraud of Rs.8.28 Crore.

According to reports, there of them was then assistant managers of the Assam Gramin Vikash Bank. This all former employees are the employee of Assam Gramin Bikash Bank, Madhapur Branch in Jorhat. They have accused for the criminal conspiracy and fraudulently financial loss of Rs. 8.28 Crore of the bank.

The accused person identified as Priyankshu Pallabh Gogoi, then Assistant Manager; Prasanta Borah, then Assistant Manager; Sohan Dutta, then Assistant Manager; and Satyajit Chaliha, then Office Assistant (Multi-Purpose).

The CBI alleged that the four accused dishonestly and fraudulently sanctioned and distributes funds in fictious Self Help Group (SHG) loan accounts. This sanctioned funds were transferred to the personal saving accounts of an accused assistant manager and other bank accounts. This action made huge loss of approximately Rs. 8,28,42,900 of the bank.

The CBI also released a search operation at seven different locations. This search operation includes residences and offices of the accused in Jorhat, Tinsukia, and Dibrugarh, as well as in West Bengal, recovering incriminating documents. The investigation is going to recover more evidence related to case.

Apart from this case CBI has filed a case against Manager of Rajasthan Marudhara Gramin Mank for allegedly embezzling funds from treasury through approval of Kisan Credit Card loan using forged documents.

The agency is investigating several cases of KCC loan fraud amounting to over Rs. 3 crore. The FIR names Sheel Kumar, former Branch Manager, and Satish Nanda, former Assistant Manager, both previously based at the Satyaya Branch in Jaisalmer district
