Cachar Police on June 22, 2024 seized a huge number of drugs worth Rs. 5 crore at Salchapra under Silchar Police station. One person arrested in connection of it.
Based on secret inputs, Cachar Police conducted a special search operation in the area of Salchapra on NH 37 and intercepted an auto-rickshaw. After searching the vehicle bearing number AS 11 EC 4513 the police recovered 47 soap cases containing 974 grams of suspected heroin. They also arrested a person in connection of it. The seized items market value would be Rs. 5 Crore.
The arrested person identified as Sirukuddin Kaskar age 24 years and residents of Hawaithan, under Bagha Police Station in Dholai. The illegal items suspected to have been transported from neighbouring state Mizoram.
Further investigation is going on. As the accused in under interrogation. Cachar SP Numal Mahatta said, โThis is part of our ongoing ‘War on Drugs’ operation. We acted on secret information and are looking to find the people involved in this drug ring. The drugs came from a neighboring state and were headed to another state, with Cachar being used as a route. We are working to break up this inter-state drug network.โ
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma stated, โBased on secret inputs, Cachar Police conducted a special operation at Chalchapra, NH 37 and intercepted a vehicle. Upon thorough search, 974gms of heroin costing โน5cr, which was being transported from a neighbouring State was recovered from the vehicle. One person has been apprehended in this regard.
