Cachar District Gears Up for Peaceful Durga Puja, Guidelines Set, Dry Day on Visarjan

For the preparation of upcoming Durga Puja Festival, Cachar District administrative, on September 24, 2024 (Tuesday), held a crucial meeting in the New Conference Hall of the Cachar District Commissionerโ€™s office with Puja committee. The meeting was presided over by District Commissioner Shri Mridul Yadav, IAS and attended by senior officials and other key department. The meeting aimed to ensure the joyful and peaceful celebration of Durga Puja 2024 in Cachar district.

During the meeting, the District Commissioner and other speakers gave various important instructions or guidelines to the district puja committees. Emphasizing the importance of maintaining law and order, the officials discussed various strategies to ensure the celebrations proceed smoothly.

The administration also emphasized the importance of proper procedures permission for electric and water. Administration said that a control room will be established, from where the administration or officials will monitor festival activities, ensuring peaceful and joyful puja.

The APDCL department highlighted concerns about power supply, stating that the current levels of power supply are not enough the festival times as in that people demanded higher. To Avoid disruption of the power supply, they are making alternative arrangements.

The PWD roads department also assured that all the necessary road repairs will be finished before the Puja celebrations.

SP Numul Mahatta Stated to issue ID Cards for volunteers in Durga Puja, Cachar

SP Numul Mahatta emphasized the need to issue ID cards for volunteers. He also stated that separate entry for men and women would be made in Pandals, ensuring safety measures and CCTV surveillance in place. He also requested that committees refrain from collecting donations on highways and make sure that pandal construction does not harm public roads. All necessary permissions must be secured to avoid any problems.

DC Yadav announced that Durga Puja Visharjan or Dashami Day would be designated as “dry days” to ensure a smoother end to the festival. Yadav also instructed all officials and employees to stay at their posts during the festival to maintain uninterrupted celebrations.

The senior officials attended in the meeting included Cachar’s Superintendent of Police, Shri Numal Mahanta, APS; Cachar District Development Commissioner, Shri Narsing Bey, ACS; Additional District Commissioner, Smt. Antara Sen, ACS; Additional District Commissioner, Shri Van Lal Limpuiya Nampuia, ACS; Additional Superintendent of Police Subrata Sen, APS; and various Circle Officers from the Silchar Revenue Circle, Sonai Revenue Circle, Lakhipur Revenue Circle, and Udharbond Revenue Circle. Members of various puja committees of the district including ALRS also participate in the meeting.
