Assam Government on Sunday (September 8, 2024) announced the merger of State Education Bord of Assam (SEBA) & Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) to form a unified Assam State School Education Board.
This move is a big step towards updating and improving school education in the state.
An official notification released by Assam Government about the merger. The notification has released order by the Assam Governor. He pleased to nominate Shri Ramesh Chand Jain, IAS (retd.), as the chairman and Rukma Gohain Barua as the Vice-Chairman of the Assam State School Education Board.
Both are appointed for a term of 3 years or upto 70 years which ever less from date of issue of this notification.
Ramesh Chand Jain is released from the charges of Chairman, School Education Board (SEBA) of Assam with immediate effect.
Taking to the platform X, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma stated, โIn a major milestone towards taking our education sector to new heights and in confirmity with NEP 2020, we have merged SEBA & AHSEC to form a unified Assam State School Education Board. The new board will synchronize school education tailored to the needs of the 21st century.โ
Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu stated, โIn line with the implementation of the NEP 2020 mandate, the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) and Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) have been merged as Assam State School Education Board. Shri Ramesh Chand Jain, IAS (Retd) and Shri Rukma Gohain Barua have been appointed as the Chairman and Vice-Chairman respectively of the new Board.โ
