Assam Government Hike 4% DA for Government Employees

On 14 March Assam Chief Minister announced that Assam Government has declared to hike 4% (DA) Dearness Allowance. This DA hiked only for Government employees and state pensionaries. With the hike of this DA, Assam Government employees will now get 50% DA in comparison to their basic salary.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announced this news in a press conference in Guwahati, Assam. He said, โ€œThe Government employees will get their Hike DA in their April salary and will aid in their Bohag Bihu celebrations. The new DA will effective from 1 January 2024. The government will pay three installment in May, June and July.โ€

Apart from these the Government also decided that 4th Grade post recruitment will filled by local residents of the same or nearby village where the LP, ME, High School or any other establishment located. Selection of the employees will based on a merit list basis or other criteria to be decided later.

Assam Government will provide Extra Subsidy in Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma also stated that apart from the incentives provide by the central government Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. Assam Government will offer an extra subsidy of 15,000 rupees for setting up 1KW Solar panels. 30,000 for 2KW solar panels and 45,000 rupees for 3 KW solar panels.

“With these extra benefits, individuals will only need to spend an extra 5,000 rupees for a 1 KW setup, 10,000 rupees for 2 KW, and 27,000 rupees for 3 KW. If people make more electricity than they need with their home solar panels than they can sell the extra to the government,” the Chief Minister explained.

He also said if the government employees who apply for the scheme take loans for them the government will pay 1% of the interest.

The Chief Minister also mentioned that with Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiating the start of a semi-conductor plant project by the Tata Group, costing 27,000 crore rupees, in Assam on Wednesday. The total money invested in the state for this financial year has increased to about 50,000 crore rupees.
