Assam CM Launches ₹2,500 Stipend Jibon Prerana Scheme for Graduates

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma Launched two key education initiatives: the Mukhya Mantri Jibon Prerana Scheme and a Free Admission Scheme for deserving students across the state. The financial aids of Rs 2500 per month will give for one year, until they got job. The aim of the scheme is to help student to prepare for competitive exam without financial dependent on their parents.

Under Mukhya Mantri Jibon Prerana Scheme, Student who will complete their graduate in the 2024-25 academic year will be eligible for the scheme. The online portal for the scehem will open from June 1, 2025. The

Benefits of Mukhya Mantri Jibon Prerana Scheme

Graduates passing out in 2025 from government universities/colleges of Assam will receive ₹2,500 per month for up to one year.

On the recommendation of the Deputy Commissioner (DC), eligible candidates may receive one-time financial assistance of ₹25,000 instead of monthly installments.

Support for Research Scholars:

A one-time grant of ₹25,000 will be provided to research scholars of state and central government universities, regardless of gender.

Divyang (disabled) research scholars will receive ₹50,000 as assistance.

Who will eligible?

Only permanent residents of Assam shall be eligible under this scheme.

Those who graduate are passed out in 2024-2025.

Who will not eligible for the scheme?

The students who have already avail the benefit of other government scheme, Such as Nijot Moina will not avail to get the scheme benefit.

Free admission for college students

In Addition to this, CM also stated that those who have Ration Card are eligible for Free admission for college students. This includes the waiver of all fees, such as tuition, sports, and magazine charges.

  • Students without BPL cards can still qualify by submitting a valid income certificate.
  • BPL students will not be required to submit any extra documents.

Meeting With Institutions for Implementation

To ensure the smooth rollout of the free admission scheme, CM Sarma said virtual meeting will hold on May 28 or 29 with the principals of all colleges and universities across Assam. The meeting will focus on effective implementation and addressing any operational challenges.
