A shocking incident took place in Silchar, where a wife attacked her husband with a dao and knife. The incident took place on June 24 in the morning in Green Lane, near Ashram Road, Silchar.
According to reports, the brutal domestic fight between a couple led to the bloodied attack. The wife attacked the husband with a dao and a knife. The attack left the husband badly injured in his head. The neighbours of the area recovered the husband in a bloodied condition and restrained her wife as she was in an uncontrollable rage.
The wife identified as Mousumi Das and husband identified as Bittu Das. Bittu Das is a goldsmith by profession and a resident of Lala Bazaar, Hailakandi. They live in Silchar for work.
Recently, they moved into a new rented house at Green Lane, Asharam Road, from his previous residence in Ambicapatty, Silchar, a week ago. During the incident, he allegedly attacked by her wife, Mousumi Das, with a sharp weapon like a dao and a knife, which resulted in several injuries to his bodies. Specially, he injured badly on his head.
By talking to their house owner, Rinki Das said, “I heard the cries of their child and the screaming of husband, so I attempted to check and found the door lock. So, I asked them to open the door but they didn’t. We just heard the cry of their child. Fearing about the incident, so I again asked to open door or I would break it. When Bittu managed to open the door, we forcefully entered the room and saw Bittu lying in a pool of blood and having several injuries. Their child was in the hands of Bittu. We also saw Dao lying on the floor and the knife in his wife’s hands. We with some other locals, somehow controlled the wife and tied his hand and leg with a rope.”
She also added, “After recovering Bittu from this condition, we immediately sent him to Silchar Medical College and Hospital in a serious condition. We all call the police.”
The motive behind the incident is unknown, and the attack is suspected to be a domestic dispute. The locals also said that Mousumi Das attacked his husband by using the opportunity of while holding their child, making it hard for Bittu Das to defend himself.
Later, police came to the scene and arrested Mousumi Das. A case has filed against her. A case has been filed at the local police station and the investigation is going on. The locals of the area remain shocked by the horrific incident.
