Two 6 years old girl was sexually assaulted by school bus driver on September 30 in a moving bus, in Wanwadi, Pune, Maharashtra, A police official said on Thursday.
The accused Sanjay Jeting Reddy was arrested by the police after a complaint was filed against him under POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act).
According to police, the incident took place on September 30 in a moving school bus in Wanwadi area of Pune city, Maharashtra.
A Police of Wanwadi police station said, “The accused allegedly touched the private parts of both the victims when they were returning home from the school. One of the girl students later narrated the incident to her mother, who then informed the school authorities.”
A complaint has been filed against the 45 years old accused after one of the girls told her father about the incident after returning home. She said how the driver molests her along with her friends inside the moving bus.
Following the day, the girl took her to school and also informed her friend’s father about the incident.
A police complaint has been logged against the accused driver and arrested under sections 64 (punishment for rape) and 65 (2) (punishment for rape on woman under twelve years of age) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Earlier, in the month of August a sweeper allegedly sexually assaulted two four years old girls in a school toilet at Badlapur in Thane district, which sparks massive protest.
The accused Akshay Shinde arrested on August 16, and was later killed in police encounter.
