Two Chinese Nationals died in a blast that took place near Karachi’s International Airport in Pakistan on October 6. The blast that took place explained as terrorist attack by the separatist militant group of Baloch Liberation Army (BLA).

The group stated that it used a vehicle-borne explosive, along with engineers.

Pakistan news Geo News said that at least two people die and 17 other injured in this explosion near Jinnah International Airport, Karachi on Sunday.

The news outlet stated that Zia Hussan Lanjar, Home Minister for southern Sindh province, saying that a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) had targeted a convoy of Chinses nationals outside the airport.

The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan in a statement stated that the attack has took place at around 11 pm on Sunday when “a convoy from the Port Qasim Electric Power Company was attacked by the terrorist near Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, the capital of the country’s south Sindh province.”

They stated, “The Chinese Embassy and Consulates General in Pakistan strongly condemn this terrorist act, express deep condolences to the victims of the two injured, extends sincere condolences to the injured and their relatives.”

The Xinhua news outlet reports that the banned outfit Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for the attack through a statement on social media platform, while Pakistaniauthorities has not confirmed yet.

Deputy Inspector General East Azfar Mahesar informed the media that the incident appeared to be an explosion involving an oil tanker. He stated, “We are investigating the cause and circumstances of the blast, which will take some time.” He also stated that the police officers were among the injured in the incident.

According to Reuters he also added, “We are determining if there was an element of terrorism involved which we cannot rule out at the moment.”
