A school teacher From Gomati district of Tripura has died after a group of mobs attacked him over allegations of sexual assault with a minor student.
According to reports, the teacher was accused of sexually assaulting a minor girl during tuition session in Udaipur town, Tripura. When the locals of Udaipur town hear about the allegation, they gathered and violently attacked him on Thursday.
The police registered an FIR against him, but no arrest have made. Assistant Inspector General of Police (Law & Order) Ananta Das said that on August 8 night, the mob forcefully took the teacher to the RK Pur police station in the presence of his wife. In the police station molestation case was logged against him.
On the advice of doctor, he was kept to the nearest health center overnight. The teacher then arrest on Friday, later granted bail by a local court.
Upon arriving at home his health detreated rapidly and admitted to the GBP Hospital in Agartala. During treatment he died in the hospital on Saturday.
The police have started investigation into the case. Tripura Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy and local MLA condemned the incident and stated that while any allegations it should be fully investigated, it is wrong to take the law into one’s own hands. He emphasized that such actions are unacceptable.
