Snehalaya Housing Scheme In West Bengal:-
Snehalaya Housing Schemeย has been started by the state government to fulfill the dream of the citizens of the state to have their own housing. Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamta Banerjee announced that the state government is going to provide housing to all those families who do not have their own houses under the West Bengal Snehalaya Housing Scheme. Mamta Banerjee has also pointed, application for houses was submitted through “Didi Ke Bolo” Portal. Under this scheme the state government has also told that the citizens of the Bengal will get help and will able to improve their lives.
Eligibility Criteria for the Snehalaya Housing Scheme:
Some eligibility criteria for the scheme are as follows:-
- The applicant must be a permanent resident of West Bengal.
- The applicant, he or she should belong to the economically weaker section category and the person or family must have registered their complaint on “Disi Ke Bolo Portal”
- The applicant applying for Snehalaya Housing Scheme should not be a beneficiary under any other housing scheme in West Bengal.

Documents Required for the Snehalaya Housing Scheme:
- Age proof
- Residential proof
- Economically Weaker Section Certificate
- Aadhar Card
- Pass port size photo
- Bank Details
Features of the Snehalaya Housing Scheme:
The scheme provides for one time financial assistance for construction of pucca dwelling unit of minimum 25 square meters area will be get to the beneficiaries by direct bank account. Size & design of dwellingย unit may be varied as per land availability, ensuring more or less 25 sq.meters area as per norms with low cost toilet.
Provision of Land:
The beneficiary must implement the scheme on the land owned by them, either through their patta land or any other land that legally belongs to the beneficiary’s family, ensuring the construction of a dwelling unit free from encumbrances.
Unit cost of the dwelling units:
- In plain areas RS 1,20,000 per unit
- In Hilly & Sunderban areas RS 1,30,000 per unit.
Selection of Beneficiary:
This scheme targets eligible families who could not be covered under existing housing schemes. District Magistrate will collect bank particulars, land details and personal details to Housing Department in the format as per annexure -A in his or her original signature in hard copy along with soft copy. On receiving the details from District Magistrate, Housing Department will accord Administrative approvals and release funds to District Magistrate for release to beneficiary account by bank transfer/RTGS through IFMS directly. The District Magistrate must collect details of bank accounts and land availability as per the specified format.
Release of Fund:
Housing Department will alot funds to District Magistrate for transfer to the beneficiaries bank account in two installments directly. Upon receiving the appropriate utilization certificate and construction progress report from the District Magistrate for the first installment released, the District Magistrate will disburse the second installment of the balance fund in full to the beneficiary’s bank account.
