On Thursday, November 7, a student of class 10 drowned in Garaliya region, Guwahati. The student identified, as Vishal of Betkuchi High School’s student. He lived with his family in Lokhra.
According to information, Vishal along with three friends had gone to the large, water-filled pit in the Garaliya area to cool off and bathe. These pits, which look like big ponds, were created recently due to land clearing and digging for national highway expansion.
The pits, which are deep and unpredictable, have worried local residents because they are risky, especially for children and teenagers who often visit the area.
While attempting to bathe in one of these pits, Vishal allegedly drowned in these pits. His friend unable to save Vishal, this immediately raised the alarm.
Later, Vishal’s lifeless body was retrieved and taken to a nearby hospital, where it was scheduled for a post-mortem examination.
