A young girl from Namrup in Dibrugarh district has managed to escape from a woman trafficking gang on Saturday, June 29 in Basistha, Guwahati.
According to reports, the victim girl allegedly gets married to Sunil Sharma residents from Jaipur, Rajasthan. Sunil Sharma was with two men and arrived in Guwahati by a night bus with the girl. The group planned to fly to Jaipur from Guwahati.
While speaking to media the girl said, “One of my acquaintances from Tinsukia arranged married with Sunil Sharma by stating that he lived in Guwahati city and doing a job. I was married to Sunil recently after a short marriage ritual as he Rajasthani ritual he said. They instructed me in the road to say that I had married him for five years if anyone asked and hide the fact that I was recently married. At first, I didn’t realize I had been sold. However, on the bus to Guwahati, I overheard their conversation about the money they received for my marriage to Sunil. I also found out they have sold many girls this way. I retrieved some phone recordings and photos from their phones. These people lure young girls and sell them in Rajasthan.”
Three people has been arrested by the Guwahati city police for interrogation. Further, the investigation is going on to uncover the full extent of the trafficking ring. The police also ensures to provide justice to the victim.
