A photo of United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) Leader gone viral on social media where he found lying on bed which filled with Rs.500 notes. The UPPL Leader identified as Benjamin Basumatary a Village Council Development Committee (VCDC) Chairman in Bhairaguri, Udalguri district, Assam.
The Photo that goes viral we can see he is lying on the bed which filled with bundle of Rs.500 notes. He was just wearing a traditional towel in his body.
As per local news Tangla-Smart City where he gave statement that the photo which goes viral is 5 years old photo which has taken by friends during party.
UPPL Leader of Assam Clarification
After the photo of Benjamin Basumatary photo goes viral the UPPL Chief and the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of BTC, Pramod Boro issued a clarification. In this clarification he said that UPPL leader Benjamin Basumatary has suspended on January 10, 2024. The BTC Government suspended and removed him from the post of VCDC Chairman on 10th February, 2024.
He post a statement by saying in X, “A photo of Benjamin Basumatary is circulating widely on social media. We want to clarify that Mr. Basumatary is no longer associated with UPPL as he was suspended from the party on 10th January, 2024, and disciplinary action was taken against him after receiving a letter from the Harisingha Block Committee, UPPL on 5th January, 2024.
Additionally, the BTC Government suspended and removed him from the post of VCDC Chairman on 10th February, 2024.
I urge all media outlets and social media users to refrain from linking Mr. Basumatry with UPPL. His actions are solely his own responsibility, and the party is not accountable for any of his personal acts.
