A Battery Explosion took place in Kashipur, Cachar near Silchar on October 18. Two individuals injured in this terrifying blast. Locals rushed to the place after hearing the loud blast.

Initially, there was widespread fear about the cause, but it was soon discovered that a rechargeable battery had accidentally exploded during testing.

According to reports, the explosion took place at the residence of Rabindra Debnath, where a rechargeable battery blast during testing.

The injured man identified as Bibekananda Debnath and Salim Barbhuiya. They were immediately rushed to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital for treatment. SP Numal Mahatta visited in the site after receiving the report of blast. He has conformed that the explosion was caused by a rechargeable battery, that commonly used in two wheeler vehicle and rechargeable fans. He also stated that the battery was tested to check its condition and suddenly exploded, which generates a loud noise.

While talking to Media SP Numal Mahatta stated, โ€œToday (October 18) at around 8:30 pm, we received an information that an explosion took place at Kashipur Part-II village, in the residence of Ravindra Debnath. After receiving the information we rushed to the scene and promptly sent two injured individuals at Silchar Medical College and Hospital for treatment. The two injured identified as Bibekananda Debnath (18) son of Rabindra Debnath and Salim Uddin Lashkar (65).โ€

He further stated that, โ€œpreliminary enquiry reveals that Rabindra Debnath, a marginal scrap dealer, used his old house for scrap materials, his son was experimenting the 6-volt battery to check its condition, suddenly it exploded. There is no signs of any explosive materials or have been found at the scene, for examination some items including soil has collective.โ€ Further investigation is going. Preliminary findings suggest that no explosive such as IED were involved.
