A shocking child abuse incident took place in the town of Silchar, Assam. A mother forces her 20 months-old child to drink and smoke. We know that secondhand smoking is considered as child abuse, means one should not smoke and drink in the same with a child. But can you imagine how the mother forcing her child to drink and smoke? The act is un-imaginable and inhuman and shocking incident.
The shocking incident took place in Bhagajyoti Lane of Chencoorie Road, Silchar, Cachar, Assam. The incident came into light when the child helpline has received the photographs of the incident and information about the child abuse on June 12. When the Child Helpline Unit and Sadar Police question the mother, she openly admitted about the incident. She even not showed any fear or guilty.
According to reports, a mother has found making her own 20 months-year old daughter to consume alcohol and smoke cigarettes in their rented house. About this incident some has send photo and call Child Helpline unit who later inform the Sadar Police and they reached house.
The Mother, identified as Sangeeta Roy. It has known by interrogating that she works in Health Department.
After getting the call the Child Helpline with police force immediately rushed to the house. They raided the rented house of Sangeeta Roy and rescued the 20 months-years old child.
Supervisor of Child Helpline Unit, Debashish Dey with Police went to Silchar child abuse Incident scene.
Supervisor of Child Helpline Unit, Debashish Dey said, “When we got this call saying that the mother was making her daughter smoke while consuming alcohol and get a photo where it seen the mother with a glass of alcohol and making her daughter smoke. I immediately informed the District Child Protection Officer, who contacted the Sadar Thana. Along with the police we reached at the house in Chencoori Road. When we confronted her, she confessed that they were partying.”
The child has rescued and placed in a child shelter home for safety of her while legal action is in the process.
Earlier, on 31 May where a parents arrested for pouring hot oil to their own three years old girl child body. Upon interrogation by the police parents confessed that they had done the cruelty act out of frustration due to child continuous crying.
