The National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL) has announced new traffic restrictions for vehicles on the Katigorah Gamon Bridge, over the Barak River, Cachar, Assam on NH-6 for safety reasons.
This decision was taken based on a report recommended by bridge expert Alok Bhowmick. The decision confirmed in a meeting on October 7, 2024 with NHIDCLโs Regional officers, Guwahati, and Deputy General Manager (P), Gaurang Deoghare.
The expert report, dated October 8, 2024, noted that the bridge is in poor condition and requires immediate action and heavy vehicle could not pass on it.

Heavy commercial vehicles, truck prohibited until further notice to ensure safety.
To enforce these restrictions, NHIDCL decided to install height gauges of 3 meters over the next two days. These gauges will block access to ensure only the approved vehicles can pass.
