Assam Police have arrested actor Sumi Bora and her husband Tarik Bora after 10 days on the run in Dibrugarh in connection with stock market trading scam in Assam.
The arrest was made following an investigation into fraudulent of stock market trading scam that have caused significant financial losses.
Further investigation is going on and more details are awaited.
Assam DGP GP Singh took the social media and announced about the arrest. He stated, โThe game is up for them. Compliments to the team STF,โ
Police superintendent (Dibrugarh) VV Rakesh Reddy said STF handed over the couple to them. โWe will have to interrogate them for more details on their involvement and other aspects. We will inform you more later.โ
Earlier on September 11, 2024 Actor Sumi Bora and Husband Tarik Bora issued a video statement stating that they were framed and that she was not fleeing she was hiding. She stated, โโA lot of defamatory news about me is being circulated about me in the media of which even 10% is not true. The media conducted my trial and hanged me even before courts started the legal processโ. In this video she also state that she is ready to surrender.
The online trading scam in Assam came into light after Bishal Phukan age 22 arrested last week, whose company duped people worth several hundred crores.
