A shocking incident took place in Last Gate area of Guwahati, where a youth stabbed a woman and flee from the scene on Thursday. The woman is died to her stabbing injuries during treatment.
According to information the incident took place in the Nohoroni Path of Last Gate area of Guwahati.
The victim identified as a health department employee and also worked an NGO, hails from Dibrugarh. At the time of the incident she was waiting for rapido ride.

As per witness, the victim suffered grievous injuries in her neck, abdomen and hand. As per reports, the accused arrived at the place via Swift Desire car and stabbed her with knife and fled from the scene.
The incident has sparked panic in the region. After the incident the victim was rushed to Gauhati Medical college hospital by Hatigaon Police at around 11:45 am.
GMCH Superintendent, Abhijit Sarma, stated that upon evaluation, the patientโs vital signs were unrecordable despite her being conscious and responsive, with a Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score of E4V5M6. Medical staff identified multiple lacerations across her body, including injuries to her abdomen, neck, and forearm, diagnosing her with penetrating abdominal trauma and neck wounds.
The detailed medical assessment revealed the following injuries:
- A laceration on the right upper abdomen measuring 5x4x2 cm
- A wound on the left forearm measuring 5x4x3 cm
- A cut on the chin measuring 3x1x1 cm
- Injuries to the nape of the neck
- A significant laceration on the anterior neck measuring 10x4x2 cm
Police arrived at the place and are investigating the matter. They also launch an operation arrest the accused and to know the motive behind the incident.
Accused of the Guwahati Woman Stabbed Case detained
The accused has been detained. Police said that the accused has stabbed himself and he also admitted to the hospital.
Assam DSP GP Singh stated in a post via social media, “Reference stabbing incident of a young girl at Nahorni Path Guwahati – The assailant has been detained. He has self-stabbed himself and is being admitted to the hospital.”
The arrested suspect identified as Bhupen Das a cab driver, is believed to be accused. A possible motive has come to light. The victime had earlier filed a harassment complaint against a man at Guwahatiโs Panbazar for repeatedly proposing to her despite her refusals.
CCTV footage related to the police complaint has offered key evidence, adding to the suspicions surrounding the attack.
