In the wee hours of August 26, a theft incident took place in Silchar, where the thieves stole cash and jewelry from the house.
According to reports, the incident took place at around 3 a.m. in the house of Samiram Das in the area of Santipur Lane, Hailakandi Road, Silchar, when they were sleeping. The thief had stolen cash of Rs. 4 lakh and gold jewelry from the house. They filed a complaint at Rangirkhari Police Station about the theft incident.
The owner, Samiran Das, said, “Yesterday I came home at around 1 pm and slept. At around 3:30 am, I felt a tug on the gold chain. I woke up and saw that my house is not in good condition; the clothes of Almirah have fallen here and there; they have looted cash and jewelry. In the house, around Rs. 4 lakh cash was there, which I brought to give payment, and two gold chains were looted. I jumped out of bed and saw a thief who ran out through the window. I have seen the backside of the thief, not the front side. It is not possible for one to do the theft, there will be another thief who was with him. I went to the police station and filed a complaint. The police came to our house and inquired.”
He also asked that what our authorities are doing, as many theft incidents have taken place, is making staying in Silchar town difficult.
