A tragic road accident took place on the road to Silchar Airport where a man died. The man was riding a scooty at the time of accident.
According to reports, the accident took place at late night on July 17, Wednesday, when a scooty rider was travelling from the Kumbhigram side towards Silchar hit by a over speeding unidentified vehicle. According to an eyewitness, a white Maruti Suzuki Swift travelling with a high speed collided with scooty near Dumorghat Bridge, Udharbond area of Cachar. However, the driver fled from the scene with the car immediately.
The deceased identified as Ratan Bhowmik residents of Silchar National High way road who died on Road Accident at Silchar Airport Road. After the accident Ratan died instantly on spot.
After listening the sound of collision local resident rushed to the site and found the deceased. They immediately called the local Udharbond Police Station. The police arrived at the scene and recovered the dead body and sent it to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.
A local residents who present in the accident spot said, “The accident happened just after crossing the Dumorghat Bridge this evening. The person who died was on his scooty. A few people who saw the accident said a white Maruti Suzuki Swift heading from Silchar had hit the scooty at high speed and then went to Kumbhigram. Due to sound of collision we rushed to the scene and found the person died. Later, Police was called and they recovered the body and took it to Silchar Medical College and Hospital.”
The are now investigating the matter to arrest the driver of the unidentified vehicle who involved in the hit and run.
