NIT Silchar is a renowned educational institute but, it come limelight for the wrong reason. On 17 February the students of (NIT) National Institute of Technology, Silchar assault the employee in a hostel of the campus. This is not the first time that such incident came out. This is the second case within just 7 month which earlier occurred in the moth of July last year.
According to some information, a group of students influence of alcohol brutally attacked the workers of another hostel of the NIT on 17 February night. The incident occurred at the Boys hostel-7 at around 7:30 pm.
The students first verbally abused the mess workers with an argument which turns violent and then they physically assaulted them. Additionally they also caused damaged to the hostel mess area by throwing the roti and dishes on the floor. A eyewitness said.
The reason behind the violence is unknown yet.
No case has been filed in the matter against the students. However the authorities of the institute have formed a committee to look all this matter.
Earlier, in July month last year a group of student brutally beat three cooks video gone viral. The cook was repeatedly beaten with sticks, kicked and punched them. In this incident two security was present in the scene but stood idle, they even didn’t try to protect the victims. They beat the cooks in the suspicion of mobile theft.
After this the administration of the institute rusticated four student from the institute for a year and a fine of Rs.10,000 each was imposed against the 12 students.
