Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Scheme –  Assam Govt. Financial Assistant for Girl’s Student

Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Scheme launched for the girls students in Assam, in Higher Secondary First Year, Graduation (BA/BCOM/BSC) first year and Post-Graduation (MA/MCOM/MSC) first year excluding private educational institutions.

Eligibility Criteria for Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Scheme:

  • The incentive is meant for all eligible girl students domiciled in Assam, irrespective of their economic status.
  • Married girls will not be eligible for the scheme except those in the P,G, and B.Ed. category.
  • In-service girls, admitted to B.Ed. course on deputation, will not be eligible for the scheme.
  • Daughters of Minister/MPs and MLAs are not eligible for the Nijut Moina scheme.

Amount to be provided to each girl students:

HS Girls StudentRs.10,000/-
College Girls StudentRs.12,500/-
University Girls StudentRs.25,000/-

Aim of Makhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Scheme:

  • To increase enrollment of girl students in Higher Education.
  • To increase the percentage of girls educated beyond matriculation in Assam.
  • To reduce dropouts among girl students.
  • To increase the overall GER of the State.
  • To eliminate the social evil of child marriage.

Mode of Application:

  • The students will fill up a prescribed application form and submit the same to the respective institutions they are currently enrolled in.
  • The students are to ensure that the data given by them is correct and complete.
  • The Registrars/Principals will collect and verify the application forms through their respective portals and submit the correct data for auto verification in the portal.
  • From the second year onwards, there is no requirement for submitting an application. A certificate from the head of the institution, certifying the student’s continuity in the institution will be sufficient for availing benefits.
  • All Head of the Institute shall notify One or Two Nodal Teachers for implementing MMNM Scheme in their respective institute.
  • The guardians can choose as to whether their daughters will submit applications for availing the benefits provided under the scheme as some of them may not like to apply.

Mode of Payment:

  • By monthly DBT system through bank account to each eligible girl student from 10th October 2024.

Scope of Applicability:

  • Financial Assistance as an Admission Incentive will be provided to Girl Students, who are enrolled in Govt. and venture  Educational Institutions in Higher Secondary First Year, Graduation (B.A./B.SC/B.Com) First Year and Post-Graduation (M.A./M.SC/M.Com,/B. Ed) First Year, excluding those enrolled in private institutions.
  • The MMNM beneficiaries are required to maintain discipline and adhere to all rules and regulations set forth by their respective institutes. This includes, but is not limited to attending classes regularly, respecting school property, following the instruction of teacher and staff, and behaving respectfully towards peers and other personnels of the institute. Any violation of these rules, such as engaging in disruptive behavior, cheating, ragging, vandalism, or any form of misconduct, will result in withdrawing the benefit under MMNM.
  • The girl students who receive scooter as part of the Banikanta Kakati Award under Pragyan Bharati Scheme, which is being implemented by Higher Education Department, shall not be eligible for this scheme. However, if any girl opts out of receiving the scooter, she can apply for the Nijut Moina scheme.
  • The Higher Education Department’s Mobility Grant scheme provides financial incentives to Postgraduate students admitted to State Universities, Government Colleges, Provincial zed Colleges, and Government Model Colleges. The Scheme has now been merged with the Nijut Moina Scheme.
