A devastating fire broke out at Madrasa in Karimganj on October 16 morning. The fire incident took place in the area of Bakorsha, near Karimganj town, in which the madrasa turned into ashes.
It is suspected that the fire started from an electrical short circuit, which caused extensive damage to the madrasa and nearby other factories.
In addition to the madrasa, holy Qurans and other religious books were completely destroyed in the fire blaze.
Local sources reported that the fire also destroyed a puffed rice factory and severely affected a sawmill in the nearby madrasa. No injury was reported from the incident scene. It is also suspected that the fire started from the puffed rice factory.
The estimated damage from the fire would be around ₹2.5 crore, of Madrasa with the affected properties which suffered heavy losses.
Firefighters immediately rushed to the scene and managed to control the flames. But before they could take control the fire, it already caused widespread destruction.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the exact cause of the fire.
