Karimganj District Court has sentenced a man to 10 years imprisonment and imposed Rs.10,000 fine for 2019 acid attack case. On August 16, District and Sessions Judge Rouchan Ara Rahman announced the verdict, wrapping up a legal process that took nearly four years.
The name of the man is Samsul Haque.

The acid attack took place in 2019 in Tilabari, Patharkandi, Karimganj, where Samsul Haque attacked a woman with acid at night. After the incident, the woman filed an FIR, and after 5 years, the man Sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment and a Rs. 10,000 fine by the district court.
Earlier, on August 1, Md. Abdul Jalil from Moritoli, Morigaon District, was sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a minor. The sentence was delivered by Additional Sessions Judge-cum-Special Judge (POCSO), N. A. Ahmed. Jalil was convicted under Section 376AB of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and was fined Rs 20,000. If he fails to pay the fine, he will face an additional six months in prison. Charges against Jalil under Section 366 IPC were dropped, and he was acquitted of those charges
