Gauhati High Court, Assam suspended Sonitpur additional district and session judge Ranju Medhi with immediate effect for the involvement in bribery.
The high court on Monday ordered of suspending the judge while departmental proceedings are underway. Further ordered stated that Mehdi will be stationed in the headquarter at Sonitpur, Tezpur.
Ranju Medhi is currently working as the special judge of POCSO court in Sonitpur. The ordered also directed that the judge will not be allowed to go out or leave stationed without permission of High Court.
The Gauhati High Court also directed the Sonitpur District & Sessions Judge will temporarily take over the duties of the Additional District & Sessions Judge, Sonitpur, Tezpur, while the latter is suspended, according to the order.
The Gauhati HighCourt Stated, “Upon suspension, Headquarter of Shri Medhi shall be at Tezpur, Sonitpur. He shall not leave the station without prior permission of the Hon’ble Gauhati High Court. “During the period of suspension, the District & Sessions Judge, Sonitpur at Tezpur will be in-charge of the court and office of the Additional District & Sessions Judge, Sonitpur, Tezpur.”
