Guwahati Police arrested fake police who impersonating as senior police officers on Monday morning at Jalukbari.
The arrested fake police identified as Faizur Hazarika, who taken into custody at Saraighat Nagar area. Hazarika had been tricking both the public and authorities for a long time by pretending to be different officials, such as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officer, and a Sub-Inspector (SI).
It makes shocked that, he even participated in the Independence Day celebration at Khanapara on August 15. On that he was in uniform, without raising suspicion.
During search operation in the house of the fake police in the Six Mile area, police recovered fake handguns, a mobile phone and fake ID card.
It would be believed that Hazarika used these fake identity and items to extort money from people by pretending to have official authority.
It was also discovered that Hazarika was renting a place owned by a senior BJP leader.
Earlier, on 15 August another man, Rinku Kalita, arrested impersonating an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in Jalukbari. Kalita was detained on August 15, 2024, in Ulubari while dressed in an ACP uniform.
The police said Kalita’s actions raised suspicions about possible criminal activities, and a case has been filed against him.
