In the early hours of October 3 (Thursday), a 55 years old doctor was shot dead by two teenagers inside at a nursing home located in the Kalindi Kunj area of Jaipur, Delhi. This incident come less than 2 months after the horror -rape and murder of 31-year old doctor in Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Medical.
The doctor identified as Javed Akhtar, a Unani practitioner, of Nima Hospital, Jaitpur, Delhi. The police said that the suspects, who seemed to be juveniles, entered the hospital seeking treatment and shot the doctor around 1:45 am.
Police said that Akhtar was found in chair in his cabin, bleeding from the left of his head wound area.
During the police inquiry it was revealed that two boys of age 16-17 years came to the nursing home at the hospital at around 1 am. One of them asked for dressing of his injured toe, this boy had been to hospital the previous day also.
After dressing was done they both went to the cabin of Javed Aktar. Shortly the night nursing employee Gajala Parveen and Md. Kamil heard a sound of gunshot. Praveen immediately rushed to the cabin and found Akhtar in a pool of blood.
Police said that facie it is a case of targeted killing as it is unprovoked and the assailants had done recce the previous night.
Delhi Police stated about Doctor shot dead
Delhi Police stated, “During inquiry it was revealed that two boys, both about 16-17 years of age, came to the Nursing Home at the hospital. One of them asked to change the dressing of his injured toe. Dressing of this boy was also done the previous night in the same hospital. Yesterday after dressing by Md Kamil, both went to the cabin of Javed Akhtar, a Unani practitioner (BUMS) for a prescription of medicine. After some time, night nursing staff Gajala Parveen and Md. Kamil heard a gunshot. Gajala Parveen went towards the cabin of Javed Akhtar and found him in a pool of blood oozing from left side of his head. Prima facie it is a case of targeted killing as it is unprovoked and the assailants had done recce the previous night,” reported ANI.
Authorities are currently investigating the case, they also examining footage from CCTV cameras installed in the hospital to gather more information.
