Cachar Police set Anti-Romeo Squad for woman safety and disturbance free Durga Puja in Silchar. This squad has been established in Silchar under the guidance of Cachar SP Numal Mahatta.
Cachar police is ready to ensure disturbance free Durga Puja in Silchar.
This special aims to protect Child, woman, and young girls. In Silchar Durga Festival is celebrated in a grand manner. Silchar become the crowd hub during Durga Puja, in that time there have been reports facing difficulties by woman, including children.
Cachar SP Numal Mahatta stated, “As you know, Silchar in Cachar is a popular place in Assam, where people celebrate Durga Puja with a lot of energy. During this time, large crowds gather, and it can cause problems for women and children on the streets. Some rowdy youths are also seen being involved in eve teasing women or acting inappropriately. To stop this, we have created a special ‘Anti-Romeo Squad.’ For the last 15 days, the squad has been trained, and it includes women police officers who will ride motorcycles and keep a 24-hour watch during the Puja to make sure everyone is safe.”

So, Anti-Romeo Squad has formed to stop or to control such disruptive behavior. SP Numal Mahatta said that this squad will patrol every area of Silchar city, Assam to prevent eve teasing against young man.
‘Rowdy Romeos should think twice during the Puja,’ warned SP Mahatta. The ‘Anti-Romeo Squad’ was first formed by the Cachar police last year and continues to play an important role this year in ensuring peace and order during the celebrations.”
