Atal Amrit Abhiyan is a new health insurance scheme announced by the state government of Assam. Under the scheme, The government is providing insurance coverage of up to RS 2 lakh per year to each family of the state. The scheme was originally launched on 25 December 2016 and is still running. Atal Amrit Abhiyan health insurance scheme was launched for BPL and APL families besieged with chronic sudden or acute health issues.ย

Various diseases like cancer, cardiovascular diseases, kidney diseases, neonatal diseases, brain and heart-related ailments, and burn injuries have been included in the scheme. The beneficiary can go for the treatment only in government-aided and CGHS-empowered hospitals in the state. There have been 245,491 APL enrollments, 15,889,339 BPL enrollments, and 85,717 treatments under AAA till March 23, 2020.

All the beneficiaries can avail cashless treatment (not reimbursement) at government and private hospitals inside and outside the state. The scheme is currently accepting enrollments, and individuals can register under the scheme by contacting the enrollment center.

The Indian Government has launched a cashless healthcare scheme for the citizens of Assam known as Atal Amrit Abhiyan. The scheme is an initiative to improve the well-being of the people in Assam. People whose annual income is less than Rs 5 lakh are eligible for the scheme. The main objective of this scheme is for the government to take measures to develop the health of the people by providing them with free and cashless medical treatment covering up to Rs 2 lakhs every year.

Once applied to the scheme, the applicant can receive the following benefits:

Free medical care up to RS 2 lakhs

Cashless medical health care and treatment

The treatment covers expenses like consultations, medicine, diagnostics, food, and hospitalization.

Aids six common and high-cost treatment diseases like cancer, kidney diseases, neurological conditions, neonatal diseases, burns, and cardiovascular diseases.

Patients requiring treatment can admit without making any payment.

This scheme covers travel expenses for visiting people, treatment costs, and daily allowances in addition to that.

Eligibility for applying Atal Amrit Cardย  :

The eligibility criteria for Atal Amrit Abhiyan scheme is as follows:

The individual should be a citizen of Assam.

The individual should possess a ration card issued by the Government of Assam under the National Food Security Act.

Individuals who belong to the below poverty line (annual income less than RS 1.21 lakh) and those who belong to the above poverty line (annual income between RS 1.2 lakh and RS 5 lakh) are eligible.

Families whose annual income is less than Rs 5 lakhs can apply.

Government employees are not eligible for this scheme.

Ration Card

Income Certificate

National Food Security Act Card (if required)

a birth Certificate if the applicant is less than 18 years of age

Diseases Covered Under the Atal Amrit Abhiyan Card:

Atal Amrit Abhiyan

A total of 437 diseases would be covered under Atal Amrit Abhiyan, which have been separated for the following six groups:

1) Cardiovascular diseasesย 

2) Cancer

3) Kidney diseases

4) Neo-natal diseases

5) Neurological conditions

6) Burns

The state government would bear an additional burden of Rs 200 crore to implement the scheme in the state. The government is also trying to empanel more hospitals under the scheme so that the residents can avail themselves of the treatment without much problem.

How To Apply for an Atal Amrit Card

Given below are the steps that are necessary to apply for this scheme:

Step 1: Visit the enrollment center

The applicant has to visit the nearest Atal Amrit Abhiyan enrollment center

Step 2: Documents Verification

The concerned officer verifies all the documents that are necessary to apply for this scheme.

Step 3: Receiving the Challan

The applicant above the poverty line is required to deposit a challan of Rs 100 in the bank along with the annual premium.

Step 4: Acquiring fingerprints

Upon completing the verification, the Above Poverty Line officer photographs the applicant and captures their fingerprints.

Step 5: Issuing of the Card

The system will issue the Atal Amrit Abhiyan ID card to the applicant after they complete the application procedures.
