On 23 August, Assam Police open fired on a youth, who accused for sexually harassment in Tezpur. The incident took place when he was trying to flee from the police during an operation, when police wanted to arrest him as per reports.
The police of Tezpur district, Assam has received a complaints against the accused Miraj Ali that he assaulted a woman who was out for an evening stroll. The Assamese woman file a complaint and the began searching for Miraj Ali.
Miraj was on the run to avoid arrest. When the police got information about his location, they went to capture him.
But, Ali tried to escape, so the police fired at him. He was hit in his right leg and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Tezpur Police said they will start legal action against him soon.
