Bittu Bajrangi, a self-proclaimed cow vigilante was arrested on Tuesday. Who was in connection with the communal violence that erupted in Nuh on July 31. The arrest of Bittu Bajrangi hailing from Faridabad, was executed in a manner reminiscent of a movie scene. The entire sequence captured on CCTV footage. The footage reveals that a team from the Nuh Crime Branch, dressed in plain clothes, apprehended Bittu Bajrangi amidst a convoy of three vehicles laden with weapons. Upon spotting the police, Bittu attempted to flee.

Details of the Incident

During the procession near Nalhar Mahadev temple Bittu Bajrangi and around 15 to 20 supporters were observed wielding swords and tridents.Police stopped the group and attempted to confiscate the guns resulting in a scuffle. The crowd became enraged and assaulted the officers. The guns were eventually seized and some protester was taken into custody in a police vehicle. Despite detention Bajrangi’s supporters chanted slogans and ultimately escaped through the vehicle’s rear window retaining possession of the weapons.

The violence spread to neighboring areas resulted six people, including a cleric and two home guards were killed. Bajrangi and his supporters were seen carrying weapons during a religious procession near Nalhar Mahadev temple. Despite being advised against it. A subsequent clash with the police ensued when the officers attempted to seize the weapons. Bajrangi and his group were detained but managed to escape with the weapons later. As a result of the event, Assistant Superintendent of Police Usha Kundu filed a complaint against Bajrangi and his colleagues.

Allegations Against Bittu Bajrangi

Assistant Superintendent of Police Usha Kundu accused Bittu Bajrangi of misconduct when she tried to prevent him from joining the procession. According to Kundu, she witnessed Bajrangi sitting on the bonnet of her vehicle. A formal complaint was filed against Bajrangi and his supporters under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and provisions of the Arms Act.

Rioting with lethal weapons, unlawful assembly, impeding public servants, assaulting public workers, criminal intimidation, and dacoity are among the charges levelled against Bittu Bajrangi and his supporters. These charges reflect the seriousness of the clash and the subsequent escape with weapons.

Response from Authorities against Bittu Bajrangi

A spokesperson from the Nuh police stated that Bittu Bajrangi would be presented in a Gurugram court on Wednesday. Where legal proceedings would commence.

Previous Controversy
Earlier, he had faced legal trouble due to a viral video that depicted him wearing saffron attire while a song with threatening lyrics played in the background. This incident led to another FIR being registered against him.
In an interview with India Today, Bittu Bajrangi addressed the viral video controversy stating that he had responded to individuals who had threatened him.
