The government of Manipur has established the Manipur Skill Development Society (MSDS), chaired by the chief secretary, with the core objective of bridging the skills gap between what is churned out by the schools and colleges and what is required by the fast growing Services and Industry Sectors. The target of the organization is to impart Skill Development Training, followed by employment in reputed  institutions, to the unemployed youths of Manipur. Students who have passed Class X and above (in any field) can apply for these skills training courses which are, presently, conducted outside the State in association with reputed Companies/Institutions, the Skills Partners. Skills training is primarily given in Retail, Aviation (Cabin Crew), Front Office Operations, Hospitality, Beauty Therapy, Wellness & Spa, Travel & Tourism, BPO /IT/ITES, Banking and Financial Insurance etc.

Placement After Training:

On successful completion of the training, the trainees are provided placements by the Skills Partners in reputed firms and establishments with a minimum monthly remuneration of RS 8,000

Scholarships:

MSDS transfers 100% of the course fee and meritorious trainees from economically weaker sections are eligible for even up to 50% of the boarding and lodging expenses based on prescribed criteria.

Skill Development Training- Manipur Building And Other Construction Workers Welfare Board – Government of Manipur:

All registered building workers and their spouse dependent sibling and children shall be eligible for skill development training. There shall be no minimum duration of registration with the board.

The following courses shall be eligible for the training:-

Financial Assistance Shall Be Provided For The Following Costs:

The scale of financial assistance for per trainee coat may vary depending upon the types of course, duration, likely placement and salary levels. However the training provider shall ensure that a linkage between the cost incurred in the training and the subsequent salary earned by the skilled person is as per the table below

MINIMUM SALARY PER MONTH COURSE FEE RELATING TO SALARY EXCLUDING BOARDING AND LODGING
Rs.5,000/- to 8,000/- 3X
Rs.8,001/ to 10,000/- 3.5X
Above Rs.10,000/- 4X

The financial assistance for boarding and lodging up to RS 150 per day

Financial assistance may be extended to the training provider selected by the Board for setting up/Improving training capacities in the form of grant-in-aid for setting up or upgradation of training and boarding/lodging infrastructure, purchase or repairing of equipment for training. Setup or upgradation or monitoring and training infrastructure, administrative cost and other reasonable expenditure found necessary for setting up or improving training capacities. The scale of financial assistance for setting up/improving training capacities shall be decided by the Board on a case-to-case basis. The Proposals for giving financial shall target eligible dependents per year for a period of three years.
