Police Constable Suspended Over Bribery Case in Tripura

Tripura Police has suspended a constable of West Tripura, Amir Khan Bhuiya for allegedly accepting bribe on Sunday.

Tripura Police have registered a criminal case against Constable Bhuiya and four others under Amtali PS Case No. 2025/AMT/111, dated October 26, 2025. The charges fall under sections 329(3), 324(3), 117(2), 351(2), and 3(5) of the BNS Act, 2023. Investigations are currently underway.

In addition to the criminal case, a departmental inquiry has been initiated against Constable Bhuiya for gross misconduct and alleged involvement in illegal activities during his tenure at the office of the Superintendent of Police, West Tripura, according to an official statement from Tripura Police.

As per the suspension order issued by West District Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak, Constable Bhuiya has been suspended and posted at A.D. Nagar Police Lines under the supervision of AC DAR, West Tripura. During this suspension period, he must comply with departmental rules and maintain discipline.

Constable Bhuiya will receive subsistence allowances in accordance with existing regulations throughout his suspension.
