In a tragic incident, the body of one of the missing NIT Silchar student has recovered from the Boulchol waterfall near Harangajao in Assam’s Dima Hasao district on Saturday evening (November 8). The deceased student has been identified as Sarvakritika Singh, a first-year B.Tech student of Electrical Engineering at NIT Silchar.

According to reports, a group of NIT Silchar students had gone on a weekend trip to Harangajao on Saturday when three of them — two girls and one boy — accidentally slipped and fell into the Boulchol waterfall, going missing soon after. Following an intensive rescue operation, authorities recovered the body of Sarvakritika Singh later in the evening.

Confirming the development, Ripunjoy Kakoti, Senior Superintendent of Police, Dima Hasao, told that the rescue operation was temporarily halted due to poor visibility and adverse weather conditions.

“The operation will resume on Sunday morning. The body has been identified by NIT Silchar authorities who reached the spot,” Kakoti said.

The two other missing students have been identified as Sauhard Rai (20) from Uttar Pradesh and Radhika (19) from Bihar — both first-year students at NIT Silchar.

Meanwhile, a team from NIT Silchar, including institute officials and students, has reached Harangajao to assist local authorities in the ongoing rescue efforts. The heartbreaking incident has sent shockwaves through the NIT Silchar community, with prayers pouring in for the safe recovery of the two missing students.

NIT Silchar authorities have yet to confirm how many students had gone to the waterfall on Saturday along with the three missing individuals.
