Massive Fire At Silchar’s Zam Zam Motors in Ramnagar, vehicle over Rs 1 Crore destroyed

Silchar Fire

Massive Fire destroyed Over Rs 1 Crore Vehicle at Zam Zam Motors in Ramnagar, Silchar on Sunday night. It took more than 10 fire tenders and hour to take control of fire.

Locals alerted the police and fire department after spotting the fire. Cachar SSP Numal Mahatta reached the spot with a large police team to monitor the situation. Despite continuous efforts, the fire reduced the entire workshop and more than eight vehicles to ashes, causing losses worth crores of rupees.

Workshop owner Akhtar Hussain suspected foul play, saying the fire might have been deliberately set. “I got a call last night that fire caught the garage. We leave many cars in the garage every night with a guard, but last night the guard went missing. About 40 cars were here, and 8 are fully damaged. Alignment machines, spare parts worth over Rs. 30 lakh, and cars worth more than Rs. 1 crore have been destroyed. I doubt someone set the fire from outside,” he said.

Some locals also suggested that the fire could be linked to a conspiracy to cause financial losses.

SSP Numal Mahatta explained that the fire spread quickly because lubricants were stored inside the garage. Fire teams from F&ES and ONGC joined the operation. While the fire outside the garage was controlled, the inside took longer as it was locked. Foam was used to put out the flames. Officials said the total loss will be assessed later.

Further investigation is going on.
